Revell German U-Boot Typ XXI
The Type XXI submarine with Inter has a separate left outer hull wall that provides insight into the interior. The surface textures are realistic, and the model includes a detailed torpedo compartment and a crew living area.
The control room is reproduced with great accuracy, as is the conning tower with internal structures. The submarine has detailed diesel and electric engines and a battery/accumulator compartment. The diving planes and hydroplanes are movable, and the twin anti-aircraft gun turrets can rotate. The fin superstructure is equipped with antennas, a periscope and a snorkel mast, and the model has authentic U2540 decals with interior details.
Quiet electric motors ensured stealth characteristics, and sensitive navigation instruments improved accuracy. The submarine was also equipped with 2 cm anti-aircraft gun turrets. The model provides an authentic insight into this groundbreaking submarine with accurate details of the engine room, control room and crew quarters, creating a realistic sense of life underwater.
The decals include both interior details and markings for U2540, which was commissioned on February 24, 1945. After a short training voyage, the submarine was sunk by its own crew in the Flensburg Fjord on May 4, 1945. In 1957, it was raised and entered service in the German Federal Navy as the test vessel Wilhelm Bauer. Today, U2540 serves as a museum ship.
The model is in scale 1/144 and consists of 163 individual parts with a total length of 53.1 cm. It is suitable for ages 12+.
